During the winter transfer window, Premier League champions Chelsea were linked heavily with a shock move to re-sign Belgium star Thorgan Hazard from German side Borussia Monchengladbach but he opted to stay put in Germany instead.
Thorgan sold in 2012
The Blues signed Thorgan Hazard, the junior brother of Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard, back in the summer of 2012 for £450,000 from French Ligue 1 side Lens before sending him on a 2-year loan immediately to Zlute Waregem.
After performing pretty well in his homeland, Bundesliga giants Borussia Monchengladbach took the forward on loan for the 2014/15 campaign, a switch which was made permanent in the 2015 season for £7.2million bringing his three-year stint at Stamford Bridge to an end without playing a single match for Chelsea.
Impressive Thorgan
Over the last couple of years, the attacking midfielder has impressed in Germany with Monchengladbach and has been linked strongly with a return to England, with West Ham and Leicester City among clubs named recently, and the 24-year-old has said that the Premier League is appealing to him.
Featured eight times by his national team – Belgium, finding the net once, the attacker discloses that he will analyse his transfer situation when the season ends considering a few suitors that are keen on signing him.
The Blues did include a buy-back clause in the transfer deal to offload Thorgan to the Bundesliga side back in 2015 but that particular clause has since expired, although reports suggest that the side retains an interest in having him back.
