Belgium international goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois seems to have confirmed that ‘rebel’ striker Diego Costa will remain at the club in a surprise summer transfer twist at Chelsea.

Diego Costa had been heavily linked with his former side Atletico Madrid throughout the summer after being informed by Antonio Conte via text that his services was no longer in his plans at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea even spent £60million on Spaniard Alvaro Morata as Diego Costa’s replacement, but it now seems as though the likelihood of a return to Spain is off.

Reports today suggested some disagreement over Costa’s wage demands, while the La Liga club are also under a transfer embargo, so cannot register the Chelsea striker their player until January.

Yesterday, the Blues made the shock move of including the striker in their 25-man squad, and Chelsea goalkeeper Courtois now looks to have settled the transfer saga with his tweet.

Mimicking the popular quote by Spain international Gerard Pique on Neymar Jr earlier this summer, Courtois tweeted: ‘Se Queda,’ which means ‘stays’ with a photo of himself (Courtois) and Diego Costa holding on to last season’s huge English Premier League trophy.

Gerard Pique lived to regret his Picture text when Brazilian Neymar did end up leaving the Catalan club for PSG, but it is too late for a new twist in the Diego Costa saga.
