Sterling Deserves Player Of The Year Award – Liverpool Defender

Raheem Sterling

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has revealed that Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling is worthy of being named the PFA Player of the Year Award recipient for this season.

Dutch international centre back Van Dijk told popular media platform FourFourTwo that he voted for Raheem Sterling before adding that the England international has improved as a player.

The former Southampton and Groningen player went on to say that he would have voted for Bernardo Silva or any other Manchester City player.

Virgil Van Dijk and Raheem Sterling are the top two favourites for the Player of the Year Award.

Van Dijk and Sterling have been impressive for Liverpool and Manchester City respectively as both teams go against each other for the right to win the Premier League title.

Manchester City player Sterling has scored 15 goals in the Premier League this season and his output has been a major contributor to the Citizens run towards a possible quadruple including the Premier League title which they won last year.

On his own part, Van Dijk has been a key player for Liverpool this season in their charge towards the title.

He has helped the Reds to 17 clean sheets and just 20 goals conceded in 33 Premier League games.
