According to reports emanating from Germany, North London giants Arsenal are set to compete with Liverpool, Napoli and Atletico Madrid for Germany star goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
Arsenal keen on Bayern star
Bild, as cited by The Sun, is claiming that Arsenal are looking at the likelihood of a possible move to land the Bayer Leverkusen goalie.
The same report discloses that interested clubs would be able to activate the goal keeper’s £17.5m buyout clause to land the German in a reduced-price deal.
As per the same report, Atletico Madrid and Napoli are both closely keeping tabs on the 26-year-old shotstopper.
Long term replacement imminent
The German publication suggests that Arsenal’s new head of recruitment is keen on signing Leno to ensure the club have a long-term replacement for ageing Petr Cech.
The goalkeeper, who is 6ft 3ins has played six international matches for the Germany national team but has heavily struggled to break into the squad ahead of Bayern goaltender Manuel Neuer.
Merseyside giants Liverpool are believed to be keen on a possible swoop to land the Bayer Leverkusen goalie despite Loris Karius’ good performances recently.
Liverpool are in the third position on the Premier League log and 14 points ahead of North London giants Arsenal in the race to seal a UEFA Champions League place.
