Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has expressed his wish to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea over his Chelsea counterpart Thibaut Courtois for his boyhood club.
Carragher, who is a pundit at Sky Sports was speaking with the news channel as he identified first choice German goalkeeper Loris Karius as the weak link for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side after they conceded three late goals in 15 mins to lose 4-3 thus ending up four points behind leaders Chelsea.
Carragher pointed out that he prefers De Gea to Chelsea star Courtois. He said: “Either Courtois or De Gea but I’ll go with De Gea.”
“You could argue he’s the best goalkeeper in world football.
“I don’t think he’s had his best season during his time at Man United but he has been the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.
“I think Courtois dropped off last season. In his first year he was outstanding but he made big saves at the weekend [against Man City] and he’s a top keeper.
“But De Gea is better with his feet and I think that suits Klopp more as he wants Liverpool to play like that. I think he would suit Liverpool the most.” he concluded.
