Bosnia international striker Edin Dzeko has said he opted to remain at Serie A side AS Roma and snub interest from Premier League Champions Chelsea because of his ‘unreal’ life experience in Italy.
Dzeko confirm Chelsea interest
The striker admitted the Blues’ interest in his signature was a compliment for him but he was delighted to remain in the City of Rome as it is the place where the striker’s son was born.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte wanted to secure the signature os a striker to play up front for the second stanza of the current season and eventually signed France international striker Olivier Giroud from rivals Arsenal.
Player confirm untrue transfer claims
Dzeko told Bosnian publication Klix, that there was a rumour, ridiculous and some untrue transfer claims about him.
He confirmed he appreciates the interest from Chelsea, a team he appreciates and respect.
He also confessed he is happy to remain in the Italian City of Rome because it became his home and a big part of his life in an unreal manner.
Dzeko’s love for Rome revealed
He said the city binds him with some of the happiest moments in his life, where he experienced joy of fatherhood for the very first time in his life when he welcomed a little girl.
AS Roma are fifth on the Serie A log with a total of 41 points from 22 games.
The 31-year-old, who joined the Italian side back in 2015, has netted 15 goals in 33 matches for his club and country so far in the 2017-18 season.
