According to reports, Real Madrid are prepared to launch a massive move for Inter forward and speculated Chelsea transfer target Mauro Icardi to effectively replace Karim Benzema.
Real are reeling after their 3-0 El Clasico loss to eternal rivals on Saturday, during which France international striker Karim Benzema failed to make an impact on the match.
Benzema has had a poor campaign overall, leading to rumour that the striker could be sold, with the Gunners interested, as per Don Balon.
Don Balon also reported today that Benzema had been strongly warned he must have a good outing against the Catalan club or the Los Blancos hierarchy would replace him in attack in the winter transfer window.
The Spanish source claims this could tempt the Spanish La Liga Champions to pay £124million needed to secure the signature of the Inter Milan hot-shot, Mauro Icardi, that has been in brilliant form this term.
British publication the Sun have also strongly linked the Inter forward as a possible Chelsea target recently, but it may also be that Zidane’s team will now increase efforts to sign him.
The El Classico result will surely have everyone alerted at the Santiago Bernabeu and Icardi seems the sort of player that could change the fortune of the club in the second stanza of the season.
