Manchester United’s French star Anthony Martial has been linked with a move away from the club with UEFA Champions League (UCL) holders Real Madrid mentioned as possible destination for the 20-year old forward, who became the most expensive teenage ever in world football when he made a stunning £36.5m move to Old Trafford from French side AS Monaco.
Anthony Martial had a fantastic debut season with Manchester United as he finished as their highest goalscorer with 17 goals in all competitions in addition to helping the team win the English FA Cup trophy however his achievement last season seems like a long time ago now with his poor form well documented.
Manchester United have underperformed hugely in the English Premier League (EPL) highlighted by their current position of 7th on the league table and even more by Martial’s lean return of just one league goal all this season prompting talks of a move away from Old Trafford.
Some critics have even pointed to the genesis of Martial’s problem to be the bizarre shirt number scuffle that saw him lose his former shirt number to Swedish superstar and club’s new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
11-time European champions Real Madrid have been mentioned as Martial’s possible destination if he leaves his present club though it remains to be seen whether they would be ready to take a financial hit owing to his huge transfer fee from his former club, AS Monaco.
