Former Manchester United Man Reacts To Chelsea v Man United in FA Cup Quarter-final Draw
Former Manchester United star player Paul Scholes has welcomed Manchester United’s quarter-final draw against Premier League leaders Chelsea in the FA Cup for a place in the last four.
The Old Trafford club came from behind to ease to a 2-1 win when they faced Blackburn in the fifth round at Ewood Park on Sunday evening as the FA Cup defending champions look to retain their crown after a 2-1 extra-time win against Crystal Palace at Wembley under Louis van Gaal last term.
United star player Marcus Rashford cancelled out Danny Graham’s opener in the 28th minute following a superb assist from Armenian star Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Swede legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic came off the bench to score a winner with 15 minutes remaining against the Championship side.
The red devils were rewarded for their 2-1 win with a quarter-final meeting against Chelsea after the Premier League leaders got a straightforward 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday evening.
Scholes speaking to BT Sport after the quarter-final draw was made, embraced the challenge that the Old Trafford club are facing to retain their FA Cup crown.
“Great game. They are two of the best teams in the Premier League at the minute. Ok, the league position doesn’t suggest that for Manchester United but they’re playing really well right now. They are creating lots of chances,” Scholes said.
“If you are going to win this cup, you’ve got to beat the big boys at some point.”
Earlier this season when both teams met in the Premier League, Manchester United lost 4-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
