Chelsea Urged To Make New Signing In This Summer Transfer Window

Former Arsenal striker Paul Merson has questioned David Luiz’s quality at Stamford Bridge and has pinned on the opinion that the club should get a new defender this summer.

Chelsea are going to be so busy next term as they will be playing at four different ends. Antonio Conte has helped bring back Champions League football to the club, and they will also be defending the premier league title. So, the west London club are expected to be quite busy in the summer transfer window and utilise it to get the squad bolstered.

Antonio Conte has a strong squad that were so impressive in the just concluded premier league season and helped won the premier league title at his first campaign in England. However, they ended the season with a disappointing defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Former Arsenal man Paul Merson was obviously not pleased with the way David Luiz played against the Gunners at Wembley and is of the opinion that Conte should not feel comfortable with the current state of his defense.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Paul admonished Antonio Conte to sign another defender because even though many thinks Luiz has been good at the back, he was ‘found out again in the FA Cup final’.

Merson believes the Chelsea stars were ‘tired’ in the FA Cup final and new legs should be brought in so it will be easier to defend the premier league title and also make a mark in the Champions League.
