Ex-Chelsea Defender Condemns Huddersfield To Relegation

Former Chelsea defender Patrick Van Aanholt played a major role in sending Huddersfield Town to the English Championship ahead of next season.

Dutch left-back Van Aanholt was on target as his Crystal Palace side edged closer to safety with a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town at home.

The victory for the Eagles ensured that Huddersfield Town suffer relegation from the Premier League in just their second season back in the top flight.

Huddersfield Town has been relegated from the Premier League in March and it’s the joint earliest relegation in the history of the competition alongside Ipswich Town and Derby County.

The Terriers have just 14 points to show for their troubles after 32 league games this season.

The handwriting was on the wall but the 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace sealed their fate.

Huddersfield Town had several opportunities in the first half against a Crystal Palace side who have one of the worst home records in the division.

The Terriers paid dearly for their wastefulness in front of goal after conceding two late goals.

Crystal Palace midfielder Luka Milivojevic gave the hosts the lead from the spot in the 76th minute after Wilfried Zaha was brought down.

Zaha then setup Van Aanholt for the second Crystal Palace goal two minutes from time.

The Eagles are up by one place to 13th spot on the table with 36 points.
