Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed Olivier Giroud won’t be part of the party that will clash with Liverpool in the premier league on Friday night.
The Frenchman picked a hamstring injury during Arsenal’s recent Carabao Cup game against West Ham at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.
Arsenal won 1-0, all thanks to Danny Welbeck’s goal in the first half of the duel.
The injury is expected to keep Olivier out of action for up to three weeks, but his manager said the player would be assessed on Thursday before any other thing.
Giroud was the club’s main man upfront before Alexandre Lacazette was signed from Lyon during the past summer transfer window.
Lacazette has quickly settled to life at Arsenal and he is currently the player with the highest goals at the club this season so far, taking Giroud’s place in the starting XI.
However, Giroud remains a nice alternative who comes to the rescue at some points, and his unavailability for the Friday game isn’t good news for Arsenal fans.
Arsenal can push their way back into the top four with a win over Jurgen Klopp side at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night.
The Merseyside club have been impressive recently, thrashing Bournemouth 4-0 away from home recently.
