Liverpool ex-player Steven Gerrard is of the opinion that Liverpool’s current boss Jurgen Klopp will be unsure whether the Reds can find players in the January transfer window that will significantly improve his squad.

Despite concerns about the size of Liverpool’s squad heading into the final 16 games of the 2016-17, the German coach is yet to bring in any new players in the current transfer window.

The Reds are currently without Senegal International Sadio Mane as the winger is presently in Africa representing his country at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. However the duo of Philippe Coutinho and Joel Matip have returned from injury problems in recent weeks to give Klopp’s side a much-needed boost.

However, ex-professionals appears to be of the opinion that Klopp needs to add greater depth to his squad for Liverpool to challenge this term.

Liverpool’s former captain Steven Gerrard speaking to BT Sport about Klopp’s lack of January transfer signings, attempted to explain the Liverpool manager’s thinking in the current window.

Gerrard guessed that perhaps Jurgen Klopp doesn’t want to waste his money in January if the right people aren’t there.

Liverpool have dropped to the fourth position on the Premier League table and are nine points behind leaders Chelsea.
