According to reports, Manchester United are set to sell midfielder Marouane Fellaini in January after agreeing not to buy a new player without first selling.
Last summer, manager Jose Mourinho splashed a whopping £150million to bring in the likes of Nemanja Matic (from Chelsea), Victor Lindelof (from Benfica) and Romelu Lukaku (from Everton) – meaning the Portuguese has spent £290 Million since taking over the mantle of leadership at Old Trafford.
The club was only able to recoup just £8M which was from the sale of Adnan Januzaj.
Despite all these, Mourinho still intends signing a creative player into his team after failing to seal a deal for Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic during the past summer transfer window. And the player he is expected to bring in is Arsenal playermaker Mesut Ozil, who has played under him back then at Real Madrid.
At Old Trafford, Fellaini has evolved into a first-team regular, but his contract will expire at the end of this season, and he is allowed to hold meetings with other clubs when January comes.
And the Daily Star said since the 28-year-old has failed to show encouragement to Manchester United that he will sign a new contract, he will be sold to raise funds when January comes, instead of leaving for free.
Turkish side Besikitas has confirmed their interest in bringing the Belgian over to Turkey.
