Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has backed manager Antonio Conte’s stance to drop defender David Luiz for Chelsea’s tie with Premier League rivals Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
The Brazil international defender was dropped to the stands for the English Premier League encounter as Antonio Conte’s men sealed a 1-0 win over the Old Trafford giant thanks to Spain international forward Alvaro Morata’s second-half header at Stamford Bridge.
There were claims in the build-up to the match that Antonio Conte decided to drop David Luiz because the Brazil international defender had questioned the tactician’s tactics recently.
And Ngolo Kante, who made his return from a hamstring problem against United on Sunday, insisted that the decision is for the manager to make.
Kante is cited as saying by the Daily Express: “We [Chelsea] have a lot of players in the team and the boss makes the choices [decision].
The Blues victory over Jose Mourinho’s team left them in fourth spot in the English Premier League log and nine points adrift league leaders Manchester City.
Conte’s men are just a point behind second-placed United as they attempt to climb their way back up the League title race as the hectic Christmas period in the League looms large.
