Manchester United brilliantly defeated defending champions Leicester City yesterday and they are now only 2 points behind Arsenal, who occupy the fourth position in the table.
However as far as the transfers are concerned, the Old Trafford club did not sign any key player to reinforce the squad, we can however expect them to spend big in the summer transfer window – like they did last time.
Just few days back, there were reports that United have agreed a deal with Benfica for right back Nelson Semedo. And currently, Semedo’s team mate Victor Lindelof is once again in the limelight.
Express expressed that Jose Mourinho did not opt to sign the Swedish international for £34.5million last month. Now however, the Portuguese club have paid to remove the minimum release clause and Man United will have to pay 50 million pounds (I.e €58million) to secure his signature in the coming summer.
This season so far, the center half has featured in 18 league games for Benfica, as some critics wonders if Man United really need Victor.
The former Chelsea coach spent heavy money to sign Eric Bailly last summer and currently his side’s central defense is very solid. So spending around £50 million on a CB again right now makes little sense. The Portuguese coach can look to strengthen other key areas of the team.
