English Premier League outfit Arsenal suffered a 3-1 defeat against French Ligue 1 outfit Rennes on Tuesday in the first leg of the round of 16 at the Europa League which calls to strengthen the team.
The Gunners are known to have a weak defence, having conceded the highest number of goals this season amongst the top six teams. This is the reason why they have decided to secure defenders in the coming summer transfer window.
Emery’s men have therefore paid attention to Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar but they will face major competition from their North London rivals Tottenham who are also reported to be interested in the player.
Fabian Schar has been impressive so far this season with Newcastle United with The Mirror reporting that Arsenal and Tottenham have both been watching him and have made up their minds to have him ahead of next season.
The 27-year-old has got 21 games under his belt so far this season, which is his first season since his arrival at England from Deportivo last summer window for a fee of £3 million.
The two North London outfit are being encouraged by the fact that Fabian Schar will not cost as heavy as other players and will give the same level of performance.
