According to reports, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has told Sergio Romero he won’t be allowed to leave Old Trafford next month.
The Argentine shot-stopper plays second fiddle to David De Gea at Man United and is yet to make a single appearance in the premier league this season so far.
Although the 30-year-old has been playing against the weaker sides in the Champions League and the Carabao Cup, Romero is fed up with being a backup to the Spanish goalie due to next year’s World Cup.
Sergio is said to be worried that he might be stripped of his No. 1 spot in his country’s World Cup party next year, and he desires to move elsewhere for regular first-team action.
However, there are reports manager Jose Mourinho won’t allow the South American goalkeeper leave Old Trafford next year and will block his attempt to depart Manchester United.
According to the Sun, a source at the club said Romero is happy at Old Trafford but is avoiding losing his position in Argentina’s team for the World Cup, and will like moving on ‘for a while’.
The former Sampdoria goalkeeper moved to Manchester United in 2015 as a free man, but is being hindered by David De Gea from having more than six appearances in the premier league so far.
