Lazio star player Stefan de Vrij has been linked with a move away from the club in recent times after emerging as a target for Chelsea.
But according to new reports, Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are set to snatch the defender away from Chelsea’s grips when summer comes.
Stefan will be out of contract at the end of this season, but he is signing a new contract with the Italian club that will have a release clause of just £20M.
The talented player is set for a new challenge elsewhere, and he only chose to sign the new contract to ensure Lazio could earn some money from his signature.
He was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge last summer, but the premier league champions signed Antonio Rudiger instead.
However, it is glaring Chelsea are still in need of defensive reinforcements. Gary Cahill is not impressing recently, and even David Luiz is no longer consistent.
And according to reports in Italy, the west Londoners are still interested in De Vrij and are likely to make a move for him when summer comes.
However, it was also added that Manchester United are ready to battle for the Dutchman’s signature and are willing to meet the £20m release clause in his new contract.
