According to the report, the North London side are willing to trigger Mario Hermoso’s release clause of about €40m (£35m) when the winter transfer window reopens in January.

Mario Hermoso has been able to attract interest from many European clubs because of his fine form and he has been rewarded with his first national team call-up to the Spanish senior team that will face Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

However, the North London club are faced with competition from Real Madrid who are believed to be making effort to go ahead to pay for his release clause.

However, Marca is reporting that Arsenal manager Unai Emery is also willing to do the extreme to have the 23-year-old star.

The North London club have been affected with the absence of Spanish player Nacho Monreal and they hope to replace him because knowing that he has not got age by his side.

Emery’s attack remains a force in the Premier League but that cannot be said of the defence.
