According to British media reports on Friday, Arsenal Superstar playmaker Mesut Ozil is close to signing a new deal with the North London club.

The German World Cup winner’s current contract runs out at the end of next season, but the Gunners are confident of wrapping up discussions in the next couple of weeks.

Reports suggest, the terms for the 28-year-old’s proposed new contract are about £280,000 weekly, which would make the German the club’s highest earner, although it’s thought that Mesut Ozil was initially asking for close to £350,000 weekly wages.

Ozil’s representatives have been discussing with Arsenal Chiefs while the playmaker is on the club’s Australia and China pre-season tour.

Arsenal’s Superstar duo German Mesut Ozil and Chile international attacker Alexis Sanchez have both been heavily linked with moves away from the North London club this summer transfer window, with the Chilean attracting interest from some of Europe’s heavyweight clubs.

Turkish club Fenerbahce, who the German supported as a boy, were interested in signing him, but some of Europe’s biggest clubs have also been keen on the midfield maestro.

The Germany international midfielder signed for the Emirate club in a £42.5 million deal from reigning European Champions Real Madrid in 2013.
