Done deal! creative midfielder set for Arsenal medical after World Cup

Despite Arsenal target Lucas Torreira looking ready to link up with the Gunners, he has allegedly rejected the opportunity to seal a medical test in Russia.

Father confirm deal

The father of Lucas, Ricardo Torreira informed Fox Sports Argentina that no deal will be completed until after the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Ricardo Torreira said it is now a fact that his son Lucas will join the North London club. He stated that a number of clubs contacted them but they have given our word to the Gunners and are satisfied with what Arsenal have offered.

Mr. Ricardo confirmed that a transfer deal is virtually completed and only the arrival of the player is left. The Gunners reportedly offered to do the medical test in Russia, during the FIFA World Cup, but Lucas’ camp declined it because they felt it’s not the right time.

The Gunners are expected to seal a summer deal for the player from Serie A side Sampdoria and wanted to fast-track the transfer process by conducting a medical at the World Cup venue, a move that is common during international competitions.

However, the player wants to remain fully focused on the progress of Uruguay in the global showpiece before considering his next move.

He is expected to undergo a medical examination in London now that his National team has been knocked out of the competition by France.
