Former Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker and current Academy head coach has explained all that is happening in the club’s Academy, stressing that it is not limited to the success on the pitch for the gifted youngsters.
The former defender noted that much is being done to prepare the young lad for life off the pitch despite having it in mind that future Arsenal fans are being developed.
He noted that it would be a delight to see Arsenal produce medical doctors despite being professional footballers so that any player who does not make it in football can have a good life to live.
Per Mertesacker stressed that the attention of everyone is to see him promote stars to the first team, noting that it would be done in the nearest future but more should be expected as well.
However, the Academy coach said he has his eyes on winning the FA Youth Cup and the Premier League 2 as the preparation for life’s success continues for the youngsters.
The Academy coach has achieved a level of success at the Emirates Stadium with three FA Cup titles and that puts him in the right frame to take the Academy to win more titles at the Youth level.
