According to new reports, Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement with Real Madrid star Mateo Kovacic for a switch to the English top flight.
The talented midfielder is believed to be frustrated with his lack of first team games at Real, and he’s determined to leave for where he can be guaranteed of regular football.
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane prefers fielding the likes of Toni Kros, Casemiro and Luka Modric ahead of the Croatian, leaving Kovacic to keep struggling for first team actions.
Liverpool star player Emre Can is still strongly linked with a move away from Anfield and is yet to sign a new contract at Anfield. The German might make a move to Juventus before the transfer window closes on Thursday night, or leave Liverpool next summer after his contract expired.
And it was made known that Kovacic has been identified as a good replacement for Can in Jurgen Klopp’s team, as the German manager remains committed to strengthening the club into a big European force.
However, Sky Sports journalist, Guillem Balague is of the opinion that the Champions League winners would not allow Kovacic leave Spain now.
Balague claimed that Juventus and an unnamed Italian club have actually approached the player, but Real Madrid got them disappointed by saying he is not for sale.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will, however, approach Real Madrid and will hope for a favourable response.
