English Premier League (EPL) side Liverpool are reportedly in a battle with fellow London side West Ham United as regards Sassuolo striker Gregorie Defrel ahead of the January transfer window, which is expected to pen in a few weeks time.
According to popular news outlet The Sun, Liverpool are looking at ways to strengthen their attacking options with the 18-time English champions presently in the midst of a league title challenge with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
25-year old Defrel, who has been the subject of scouting from Liverpool officials in the last few weeks.
Liverpool have struggled in recent times with just 1 point in the last two games (3-4 away loss against South Coast club Bournemouth and the 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur) on the back of the ankle injury influential Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho sustained during their last league win, which was a 2-0 win over bottom side Sunderland.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool would be able to fend off Slaven Bilic’s men to get the man they have watched several times this year already.
Apart from Defrel, the Anfield giants have also been linked with other attacking talents like Ivorian striker Frank Kessie and Mexican star Javier Hernandez.
