Premier League leaders Liverpool have received a major injury boost ahead of their clash with Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.

This is due to the news that defender Joe Gomez has returned to Liverpool training after almost four months out with injury.

Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday evening in the first of the last seven games before their Premier League campaign comes to an end.

The new development about Joe Gomez was confirmed by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in a chat with the club’s official website.

Joe Gomez sustained a fracture in his leg during the Premier League game against Burnley in December and he had to undergo surgery to correct the problem.

He had made 12 Premier League starts for the Reds before the unfortunate injury which he sustained in a collision with Burnley defender Phil Bardsley.

Before his injury, Joe Gomez formed a potent centre back partnership with Virgil Van Dijk.

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has also returned to training to give the Reds more options ahead of their chase for honours in both the Premier League and Champions League.

It remains to be seen whether both Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would be in the Liverpool squad for the weekend’s Premier League game with Tottenham Hotspur.
