Kasper Schmeichel

Manchester United is set to rival Manchester City for the signature of Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, according to reports.

The Danish shot-stopper has been a key performer for the Foxes and was an integral part of their historic title-winning squad last season, which sparked speculations that the 30-year-old will favour a move elsewhere but he remained at the King Powe stadiu much to the delight of Leicester City who were keen on keeping their stars after in a bid to continue their impressive run in the league.

Despite keeping the core of players that won the league last year, the Foxes have suffered for form in the current campaign, with suggestions that some of their players will seek move elsewhere next summer.

Schemeichel has also been touted as one of the players that could leave the club after his decision to sack his agent, Kenny Shepherd who helped him negotiated a mouth-watering deal at the King Power earlier this season and has chosen Italian agent Luca Bascherini who has strong ties with Manchester United.

It is understood that Jose Mourinho has identified the Leicester City goalie as one of his targets to replace David De Gea who might leave the Old Trafford at the end of the season but United might to rival Manchester City who are also in dire need of a goalkeeper.
