Manchester United are plotting a summer bid for Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, according to Portuguese sources.
The 22-year-old was a subject of transfer interest from the Red Devils during the last January transfer window, with reports that he almost moved to the Old Trafford if not for discrepancies in transfer fee between the two parties.
Lindelof has been a key figure for the Portuguese side, making 52 appearances since he broke into the limelight in 2013, drawing interest from several clubs.
Jose Mourinho is understood to be an admirer of Lindelof’s qualities and will return for his signature next summer.
Reports in Portuguese outlet A Bola suggests that Manchester United are plotting a summer bid worth £38million next summer.
Although, Victor Lindelof just signed a new contract that will keep him at Benfica till 2021, as the Portuguese giants try to fend off interest from suitors. It is understood that the club is keen on keeping hold of the defender despite keen interest from United.
It is understood that Mourinho is thrilled that Lindelof can play at centre-back and right-back positions.
Chelsea are also said to be interested in Lindelof during the last January transfer window and Antonio Conte might also return for the player as he looks to bolster his current squad next season due to their involvement in the Champions League.
