Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen on bringing in another wing-back before the end of this summer and has been linked with Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto.
However, he will be facing competition for the player with Don Balon reporting that both Manchester United and Monaco are also interested in signing the player.
The Spanish news outlet added that anyone who will get the player’s signature will have to meet his £36.2M release clause in full before Barcelona will allow him to leave.
There were speculations that Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United have seen an approach for Roberto turned down by Barca and that the Old Trafford club have launched another bid in the region of £36m to sign the player.
It is understood that Antonio Conte’s side begins monitoring him after seeing a move for Juventus star player Alex Sandro stalled, with the Serie A champions reluctant to let the Brazilian leave, Turin.
Even though Sergi can play in the midfield, the Spaniard made a name for himself at the right back position following Aleix Vidal’s injury when the manager coveted him to the wing-back role.
Manchester United were able to persuade Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku to come over to Old Trafford earlier this summer after the player was heavily linked with a return back to Stamford Bridge. We look on if something similar is going to take place in Roberto’s case.
