According to reports, Manchester United are on the verge of sealing a swap deal involving Chilean Alexis Sanchez and Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but it’s suggested North London giants Arsenal had their eye on another United player.
As reported by BBC Sport, the Red Devils are ready to seal a deal with the gunners as Alexis Sanchez and playmaker Mkhitaryan get set to swap clubs in a transfer deal that suits both parties.
Arsenal will avoid losing the former Barcelona star for nothing next summer when his deal runs out, while the United playmaker has struggled for form at Manchester this campaign and his creativity and technique arguably makes him a good fit for Arsenal.
From a Red Devil perspective, they’re bringing in a world class footballer to their team the peak years of his playing career, and they’ll be hoping he can help close up the gap with rivals Man City.
In turn, it’s a decent bit of transfer transaction. However, as reported by The Sun, the gunners had tried their luck to have defender Luke Shaw included in the swap deal.
That wasn’t an appealing option for Manchester United, especially as Shaw, 22, is now earning the trust of Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho regularly.
