Milan boss expect approach from Chelsea for Italy winger

Head Coach of Serie A side Inter Milan, Luciano Spalletti, says Chelsea could yet make an approach for Italy winger Antonio Candreva before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Despite having spent close to £150million on new signings this summer window, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen on strengthening his team with three or four more quality signings.

Conte believes reinforcements are needed as he prepares to compete on two fronts and experienced Candreva has emerged as a transfer target.

The 30-year-old versatile midfielder, who can operate on either wing or in the center of the midfield, has performed brilliantly for Inter Milan since joining them from Lazio last season and remains an important player at the club.

However, the Inter boss is aware of the interest from Chelsea and says the Blues ‘could attempt to do something’ in some weeks ahead.

Candreva is thought to be well settled in Inter, but La Gazzetta reports the Serie A giant would consider selling the midfielder for about £23million.

The Blues are also linked with Danny Drinkwater of Leicester City, Everton’s Ross Barkley, and Dutchman Virgil van Dijk.

Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-1 win over City rivals Tottenham Hotspurs, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte insisted the West London club are ‘trying their best’ to sign some more quality players this summer transfer window.
