Former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has backed his assistant at Manchester United Rui Faria to take on a big role in management following surprise links with replacing Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Relatively inexperienced coach linked to Arsenal
The Portuguese tactician has never held a top management role before, but has worked as Jose Mourinho’s main assistants since his first charge at Stamford Bridge between 2004 and 2007 season, moving from there to Serie A side Inter Milan, La Liga giants Real Madrid, a second spell at West London, and then at Premier League giants Manchester United.
Reports from the Sun during the week linked Rui Faria to succeed Arsene Wenger at Arsenal next term and Jose Mourinho has made it crystal clear he thinks Farai, 42, has what it takes to perform pretty well.
Arsenal fans not delighted
Arsenal supporters certainly won’t be too delighted at the prospect of an inexperienced Farai coming in for such a huge job, especially when others who have managed huge sides and won major titles as sole managers of a club have also been linked to the Arsenal job.
Still, Jose Mourinho’s backing shows there could be something in the Arsenal target as a coach in the future.
