Liverpool join race to sign superstar to replace Philippe Coutinho

Published

According to reports, Liverpool have made contact with North London giants Arsenal over completing the switch of Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez ahead of top Premier League clubs like Manchester United and Manchester City.

The Alexis Sanchez saga has taken a different switch today, after several months of the rumour that made it look a near-sure that the forward will end up at the Etihad Stadium.

British media reports that the Citizens failed to land the former Barcelona man late last summer after the gunners pulled out of the move due to not being able to sign a replacement, but they have continued to be strongly linked with the attacker since then.

A recent report suggests the South American could be close to joining City by the weekend, though that now looks much less sure.

Another report today has linked the forward as a transfer target for Jose Mourinho’s side in a possible swap deal involving Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving the other way, even if the player prefers to reunite with Pep Guardiola.

Now, the Daily Express in a report claims potential approach from the Reds, who have been strongly linked with other attackers after Brazilian Philippe Coutinho’s recent move to FC Barcelona.

Top Chilean journalist Maks Cardenas suggests the Merseysider’s have been in contact with the Gunners about this surprise signing, though the newsman also maintains that the Arsenal man still desires to move to Manchester City.

Why Chelsea will lose if Eden Hazard is converted to a striker

Published

on

Eden Hazard

This is an urgent question that demands an urgent answer from only one person — Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.

Eden Hazard is a player who knows when and how to make defenders commits blunders. His wonderful dribbling skills could be compared to a handful of players in the world.

His ability to create space from the wings so as to wreak havoc on opponent’s half still remains one of the reasons the Blues are firmly holding on to his signature

Despite all of these impressive traits possessed by the player while operating from the flanks, the former Lille star is often seen at the centre of the attacking frontline since the start of the season.

That brings out the question about the role Sarri wants the Belgian international to play in the team.

Since Hazard’s first season at the Stamford Bridge, he has never scored up to 20 goals in a single season, but that didn’t overshadow the fact that he’s an important and integral part of the team.

Four games into the season, Hazard has already scored five goals, making him one of the leading goalscorers in the League.

Having seen how prolific Hazard has suddenly become, a very happy Maurizio Sarri publicly charged the player to score more goals before the end of the season.

In fact, the former Napoli manager categorically told Hazard to break his goalscoring record as he wants him to notch nothing less than 20 Premier League goals.

With Sarri’s mission for Eden Hazard, it is obvious the player would feature more as a striker than being a winger.

Can Hazard succeed as Chelsea’s hitman?

Over the years, the Blues are known for possessing deadly and clinical strikers as their hitman.

Didier Drogba, who recently retired from football, was one player who could score goals at ease. His huge physical presence is enough to scare opponents, while his accuracy from range was one of the reasons he’s regarded as Chelsea’s legend.

As much as Nicolas Anelka who didn’t enjoy much success like the Ivorian but still had a great spell during his days at Stamford Bridge.

Anelka’s height makes him a deadly striker in the air, just as Didier Drogba.

Though Hazard possesses a wide range of tricks, he didn’t possess the traits needed to be a successful striker for Chelsea or any other Premier League club.

He is not that type of player who loves to strike from outside the 18-yard box, hence, scoring plenty of goals will be a very difficult task to achieve.

Hazard’s recent goal drought is an evidence he’s not born to be a striker, so, Sarri shouldn’t make him one.

If Sarri must convert the player at all, he should make him play behind the leading striker.

As a playmaker, the Belgian is capable of attracting many defenders to himself so as to give strikers much space to operate.

Sarri would fail to profit from Hazard’s tricks and wonderful display from the flanks, should he convert the player into a striker.

The Italian manager will also fail to count on the 27-year-old striker for many goals as that has never been part of his game and will never be – not in Chelsea, not in Premier League

Why Denis Suarez could mean the end of Fabregas at Chelsea

Published

on

Denis Suarez

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is looking to fortify his midfield position during the upcoming winter transfer window.

The Italian manager believes summer signing Jorginho is being overused, so, he’s ready to bring a new midfielder as a backup to his compatriot.

Considering the manner with which the Italian midfielder began life at Stamford Bridge, you will be surprised he’s playing in the league for the first time in his career.

However, his performance in recent weeks points to the fact that he’s becoming a bit tired and overstressed by the League’s hectic fixtures.

According to the Mirror, Sarri is keeping close tabs on Barcelona’s 24-year-old midfielder Denis Suarez, who has been a bit-part player under Valverde this season.

The midfielder has failed to reach his full potentials at Camp Nou, featuring in just one match so far this season.

He’s poised to leaving the Spanish giants in January as he searches for greener pasture.

Sarri is reportedly willing to release £15m for his services but it remains unknown if the Blaugranas sanction his move to Stamford Bridge for such amount.

Denis Suarez will definitely have an effect on Sarri’s lineup, should he eventually join the West London Club. Apart from being a backup to Jorginho, the 24-year-old could turn out to be the end of Cesc Fabregas stay at Stamford Bridge.

The former Arsenal midfielder has failed to nail down a permanent spot in Sarri’s lineup and he is said to be heading out of the team.

Fabregas was a regular starter for the Blues during Conte’s first season with the team but couldn’t keep his place towards the end of last season.

Despite his impressive Premier League record, Sarri didn’t rate the Spaniard and he wasn’t convinced of his quality.

The manager is now planning to release him in January so as to create space for a much younger and active Suarez to step in.

According to report from Italy via Tuttosport, AC Milan are set to make move for Fabregas in January as they look to bolster their midfield’s setup.

The San Siro outfits haven’t been too impressive at the middle of the pitch and they are hoping to put an end to their uninspiring display by snatching the 31-year-old from Sarri’s watch.

Although the Blues have set a £11m price tag on the player’s signature, the Serie A side are more determined to see the former Barcelona player at San Siro in the second period of the campaign.

Fabregas has seen it all in the English League. He’s won many trophies with Chelsea and Arsenal. It’s high time he face challenges from other League.

Suarez will replace Fabregas at Chelsea?

Denis Suarez

Stamford Bridge-based premier league giants Chelsea have been told that they can sign highly-rated Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez for a small transfer fee when the transfer window reopens in three weeks time.

According to The Daily Mirror, they report that the Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona have indicated their willingness to sell the Spanish international midfielder to Chelsea and other interested parties for just £15m
Other European sides like Arsenal, Valencia, and Napoli are also keen on a move for the 24-year-old.

Before now, reports have claimed that the player favours a move to the Gunners ahead of clubs like Valencia and Napoli who have been long-term admirers of the player.

He was very close to signing for Napoli twice while Maurizio Sarri was still the manager.

The Chelsea manager still retains an interest in him and he could be a direct replacement for compatriot Cesc Fabregas who could leave Chelsea when the January transfer market reopens.

Cesc Fabregas has been attracting strong interest from seven-time European champions AC Milan who are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements.

The former Arsenal man has just six months left on his present Chelsea contract but the Italians are not ready to wait till the summer.

They have also been credited with an interest in Denis Suarez but Cesc Fabregas represents a cheaper option for the Rossoneri.

Napoli Star Talks Up Sarri Reunion At Chelsea

Published

on

Dries Mertens

Napoli forward Dries Mertens has revealed his desire to reunite with new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri at the end of his contract with the Italian Serie A giants.

Mertens is contracted to Napoli until the end of the 2019/20 season.

He spoke in glowing terms about Italian tactician Sarri in a chat with popular English media outlet The Times.

Dries Mertens went on to say that the idea of reuniting with the new Blues’ boss at the end of his Napoli contract is not a bad idea.

Maurizio Sarri became the Chelsea manager in the summer after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract.

The 59-year-old replaced compatriot Antonio Conte who lost his job after an underwhelming season which saw the Blues finish in a disappointing fifth place at the end of the Premier League campaign.

Maurizio Sarri has lifted the largely dull Chelsea spirits this season with the introduction of his possession-based style known as ‘Sarriball’ but he has had to suffer for a lack of consistent goalscoring strikers in the team.

Dries Mertens could be a very good option for Sarri and Chelsea.

The Belgian star has already scored 10 goals in addition to four assists for Napoli in all competitions this season.
