Five-time European champions Liverpool have to reportedly see off the competition from Spain in the bid to sign Brazilian international player Eder Militao.

Eder Militao plays his club football for Portuguese Super League champions and Champions League campaigners FC Porto at the moment.

Popular English news portal Daily Mirror has revealed that Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid have joined Liverpool in the race to sign the talented defender.

Eder Militao started his football career at right-back at Brazilian Serie A club Sao Paulo and has played in both the defensive midfield and centre back positions for FC Porto since he joined the club in the summer.

The 20-year-old signed for the Portuguese champions from Sao Paulo at the start of last season.

His FC Porto form has led to the interests of European heavyweights like Manchester United, Real Madrid and Liverpool.

He has a £42.5m release clause in his current deal with FC Porto.
Eder Militao became a full Brazilian international before the end of last year after he made his Selecao debut under the guidance of manager Tite.

He played his first game for the Brazilian national team in the thumping win over minnows El Salvador in what was an international friendly game.
