Huge blow for Liverpool and Arsenal as Rabiot set for first-team action

Adrien Rabiot

PSG want-away midfielder Adrien Rabiot was heavily linked with a switch to Premier League while Liverpool and Arsenal were tipped as his possible destination, that was according to French media L’Equipe.

The Frenchman failed to renew his contract with Thomas Tuchel’s side which increases speculations that his move to England is closer than expected.

The growing speculations forced Tuchel to ignore the veteran midfielder on the training ground and the Frenchman was made to train alone.

It appears as good and encouraging news to Unai Emery and Jurgen Klopp in their respective desires to have the player before the end of January.

However, both Premier League giants have encountered a major setback in their interest in the midfielder as Tuchel has to be ordered to include Rabiot in his starting lineup on Saturday, that’s according to reports breaking out of the Parc des Princes.

L’Equipe said, this morning, that the manager is ordered by his employers to include the world cup winning star in his team as soon as possible.

The motive behind the hierarchy’s decision remains a mystery to the coach and many pundits but one obvious fact is that Rabiot has made up his mind to quit the Ligue 1 Champions during the January window.

In other Liverpool transfer rumors, Jurgen Klopp is set to release Daniel Sturridge so as to fund his move for RB Leipzig’s forward Timo Werner in the summer.

That’s according to Liverpool Echo who said the German manager is ready to beat his competitors to the £61m-rated striker before the start of next campaign.
