Few days after the 3-1 loss by La Liga giants Real Madrid in Kiev, when the Reds announced the £43.7m acquisition of Fabinho from Ligue 1 side Monaco.
The midfielder has been signed to replace out-of-contract Germany midfielder Emre Can, who is heading to Juventus, and the South American is expected to bring authority and energy to his defensive midfield role.
Another midfielder that joined the team at the start of July is Guinean Naby Keita, who joined from RB Leipzig for a fee of £52.75million.
Midfield maestro Fabinho called on Nabil Fekir to come and join him at Anfield and Sportsmail disclosed weeks back that the Reds have started negotiations with French side Lyon over the France international midfielder.
It is widely reported by various media outlets that Lyon wants about £53million for Fekir, one of their top stars.
German tactician Jurgen Klopp will hope the presence of summer target Alisson in goal for the team next season will spell an end to the goalkeeping crisis and defensive errors that have haunted his side throughout recent years.
