Aston Villa coach John Terry has signed a new contract at the club to end the transfer rumours linking him with the Derby County job.

The new development was confirmed by the club on Wednesday afternoon.

It was revealed that John Terry has penned a new contract at Aston Villa until the summer of 2021.

Former Chelsea defender Terry has been a big influence at newly promoted Premier League outfit Aston Villa.

He spent the vast majority of his football career at Chelsea before joining Aston Villa on a free transfer in 2017.

The Chelsea legend went on to captain Aston Villa in his one and only season with the former European champions who missed out on promotion to the English top flight via a 1-0 loss to Fulham during the Championship Playoff final.

The ex-Chelsea skipper teamed up with Aston Villa manager Dean Smith to mastermind the Midlands club’s return to Premier League football.

John Terry has been linked with the managerial job at Derby County whom Aston Villa beat 2-1 in the playoff final to seal their Premier League promotion.

Former Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard is the overwhelming favourites to take the vacant Blues job meaning that the Derby County post will be vacant if the West Londoners appoint their former midfielder.
