England international midfielder Jack Wilshere is optimistic that the North London giants can finish top of the Premier League, despite the 12 point difference that’s opened up and Arsenal losing heavily to two of their Premier League title ‘rivals’.
The Arsenal midfielder was talking to the Evening Standard at the movie premiere of the new Gunners film “89” on Wednesday evening and said the primary target was still to be Premier League champions.
Rivals Manchester City are presently top of the log by eight points, having secured 10 wins and drawn one of their first 11 matches. In the process, Wenger’s team have netted 38 goals and only conceded seven goals.
Although Manchester United have conceded loss number of goals, you always feel Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will always outscore whomever they come up against, so it does not really matter if they concede few more goals.
The Gunners, on the other hand, have let in more than 3 times the number of goals as Manchester United and netted just about half the number of goals as Manchester City. Should the continue at that kind of rate, there is no chance Arsenal will be catching the top sides anytime soon.
But, the England international says, the Gunners home form has been impressive so far.
