France international striker Olivier Giroud has revealed his desire to remain with the Blues for more seasons despite numerous reports linking him with a winter move to either Fulham or Wolves.

Giroud, 32, has seen his place taken by in-form Alvaro Morata but he is determined to compete with the Spaniard for a place in the team’s first XI.

According to him while speaking to reporters after France’s 2-0 defeat to the Netherlands on Thursday, the former Arsenal goal poacher admits he is used to competing with teammates for a place, therefore, he is ready to fight for a spot in Chelsea’s attacking front line.

His decision to remain at Stamford sounds brave and great but will it be of great benefit to his career and also to his country.

Playing nine out of 12 Premier League matches isn’t a bad one but the future looks bleak for the France international under Maurizio Sarri.

The striker is in that period where he needs to feature more regularly but that is not going to happen should he insist on staying at Stamford Bridge beyond December.

Irrespective of his form, Giroud will continue to be on the substitute bench as long as Morata continue to score goals and make assists.

The former Real Madrid striker is in the form of his life and that has helped him regained Sarri’s trust.

Should Giroud desire to remain fit and effective for the rest of this campaign, he must leave Stamford Bridge in January, even if it’s on a loan deal.

A move to either Fulham or Wolverhampton Wanderers is definitely good for his career.

With Fulham, the Frenchman stands high chances of featuring regularly and effectively as there are no centre-forwards with equal Premier League experiences and class in the team.

Despite his age, Giroud still remains fast and sharp on the counter, this is one trait that would make him the perfect Claudio Ranieri’s striker.

During his three-year reign at Leicester City, the former Chelsea manager was known for his pacy counter-attacking football with England striker Jamie Vardy as the team’s goal poacher.

Giroud might not be as pacey as Vardy, the Frenchman is a proven goalscorer whose goals will surely be of help to Ranieri’s mission to avoid relegation.

Just as it is to Fulham, Wolverhampton Wanderers is another club where the Frenchman would be able to explore his wonderful goalscoring ability.

Conclusion

Giroud’s decision to remain under Sarri isn’t the best one, however, no one can predict the future as injuries and fatigue might give room for the Frenchman to lay claim for a starting berth before the end of the season.
