Chelsea are in the Carabao Cup final following their penalty shootout victory over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in their semifinal tie but the success recorded over Spurs was not enough for the West Londoners according to the publication from The Sun.

It was revealed that the Blues denied Tottenham the opportunity to sign striker Michy Batshuayi on loan despite the fact that the North London giants offered a huge loan fee of around £8m for the attacker.

Belgian international star Batshuayi was one of the most in-demand players on deadline day of this winter transfer window and Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sign him as a short-term replacement for the injured Harry Kane.

Three Lions of England captain Harry Kane is not expected to return to action until the start of next month after he suffered a serious ankle injury in the 1-0 home loss to Manchester United last month.

The aforementioned publication revealed that Chelsea were not willing to strengthen a rival by sending Michy Batshuayi to Tottenham Hotspur.

Both teams are in the top four of the Premier League alongside title favourites Liverpool and Manchester City.

Batshuayi eventually joined South London club Crystal Palace on loan for the rest of the season.
