Tiemoue Bakayoko

Monaco defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has emerged as a target for Chelsea this summer and it appears he would be playing at Stamford Bridge next season.

In a new development, the Premier League champions are closing in on his signing after agreeing to a €40 million deal with his club.

French news outlet L’Equipe are reporting that Chelsea’s board have convinced Monaco with their offer and are looking towards making their first summer signing official next week.

It was added that the player himself is enthusiastic about the prospect of working under Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and the France international is keen on joining the Blues.

It is understood that the Ligue I champions have quickly found a replacement for Tiemoue in Soualiho Meite. Meite will be arriving from Zulte Waregem for a fee worth around €8M.

Chelsea have been in negotiations with Bakayoko’s club recently and have faced competition from premier league rivals Manchester United.

Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho is also looking to add power to his midfield department, and since Bakayoko is going to Chelsea, the Portuguese boss is expected to go for another Monaco star player Fabinho.

Bakayoko has been one of the pivotal members in Leonardo Jardim’s side and helped beat PSG to the Ligue I title.
