Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has been named on the four-man list of nominees for the Europa League Player of the Week.
The French World Cup winner was in superb form for the Blues as he netted three goals to lead Chelsea to a convincing 5-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv FC of Ukraine.
Giroud was the standout player in the Europa League last 16 second leg tie.
Chelsea recorded an emphatic 8-0 win on aggregate with the result from the second leg.
The West London giants had won the first leg 3-0 at Stamford Bridge last week Thursday.
Ex-Arsenal striker Giroud scored two goals in the first half for Chelsea before Spanish international star Marcos Alonso added a third Chelsea goal on the stroke of halftime.
Giroud completed his hattrick just before the hour mark for the Blues’ fourth goal.
Callum Hudson-Odoi wrapped up the win for Chelsea with twelve minutes left on the clock.
Giroud has now scored nine goals in this season’s Europa League making him the leading goalscorer in the competition.
He will contend with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal), Jonas (Benfica) and Thomas Soucek (Slavia Prague) for the player award.
Giroud and Chelsea will face Slavia Prague of Czech Republic in the next stage of the Europa League after the draw took place earlier on Friday.
