After the unpleasant preseason tour and the Community Shield loss to Arsenal, many Chelsea fans are already begging for the addition of Diego Costa back into the Chelsea fold.
And while Antonio Conte remains adamant that there is no going back on his decision regarding the Spanish striker, the club’s new captain Gary Cahill has admitted that the player will be greatly missed in as they prepare to defend the premier league trophy.
The former Atletico Madrid man scored 24 goals for Chelsea last season, and he helped Conte win the premier league trophy in his first season. and the drama began when Italian tactician told him via text at the end of last season that he is not part of his plans at Chelsea.
The manager made the decision as he hoped to bring former Everton striker Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge, but Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United was favorite to land the power hitman.
Chelsea have brought in Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid and will hope the Spaniard can fill the void left by his countryman. Still yet, club captain Cahill thinks his side will miss Costa.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Cahill said:
‘He (Costa) will be missed. Diego Costa is Diego Costa [and] he scores goals.
‘He’s an animated character and a big personality. He will be a big miss.’
