Riyad Mahrez

Leicester City boss Craig Shakespeare has said the club are ready to let Arsenal-target Riyad Mahrez leave for the “suitable bid” this summer transfer window.

The Algerian is due to play for Leicester in their Premier League opening match against Premier League giant Arsenal on Friday night, despite having submitted a transfer request earlier in the summer, as per Daily Mail.

While the African is at the club, he will be available for selection on Friday. But if a suitor submits the right offer, Leicester City will accept and grant the forward a departure.

Mahrez was keen to leave the King Power Stadium for a bigger club in Europe who can consistently challenge for major titles, and the Gunners were thought to be the right destination for him.

However, Arsenal seemingly had ended their interest in the African as they haven’t tabled an offer this summer window. Ahead of the 2016/17 season, the Gunners were strongly –linked but saw their attempt rebuffed.

Now Arsenal have a green light to sign the 26-year-old and they are instead pursuing Thomas Lemar of Monaco among others. Serie A side AS Roma have had a £32m offer turned down, so time might be running out for the Emirate club to sign the Leicester City man.
