Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk is actually a hot prospect this summer after emerging as a target for a handful of top clubs in the premier league.
The talented player had been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool. But it appears he is destined to play at Anfield next season.
In a new development, it is understood that he is set to take matters into his own hands regarding a potential summer move to Anfield and is desperate to complete a switch to Liverpool this summer.
Liverpool have been chasing the Southampton skipper even before the end of last season and we saw his club reporting Jurgen Klopp’s side for making an illegal approach for him, forcing the reds to officially issue an apology to Southampton.
Despite all, it is understood that the 26-year-old is currently with the Saints for preseason training under their new manager Mauricio Pellegrino, and The Sun are reporting that he will instigate a move away from the club.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has only been able to bring in just two new major signings this summer – Dominic Solanke (from Chelsea) and Mohamed Salah (from AS Roma) and the fans are still expecting him to bring in more legs before the transfer window closes.
Klopp is expected to bolster his defense this summer and he is said to be determined to bring in Van Dijk at all cost, even if it means smashing the club’s transfer record once more.
