In what will sound as good news to Chelsea fans, Belgian tough tackling centre back Toby Alderweireld has been rules out of this weekend clash between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
According to report from Evening Standard, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has already ruled out the 27-years old star, after he was once again unavailable for yesterday’s 2-1 loss to Monaco in the prestigious UEFA Champions’ League group game.
The former Atletico Madrid centre-back suffered a knee injury back in October in a 1-1 draw against West Brom. The star has now missed a total of seven games for the Spurs including yesterday defeat to French side.
Chelsea have been on fine form of late, having won their last six matches in a row without conceding a goal. They are currently sitting on top of the table with 28 points.
It will be recalled it was the Blues that prevented Pochettino men from lifting the EPL cup last season, after the Blues came back from two goals down to claim a point at Stamford Bridge.
Pochettino rested key defenders Jan Vertonghen and right-back Kyle Walker in yesterday defeat to Monaco, but we however expect both players to return to starting spot when the face Chelsea this Saturday.
The Blues are currently injury free except for young England midfielder Roben Loftus-cheek.
Italian tactician Antonio Conte will however, be expected to feed in strong starting Eleven that can guarantee victory on Saturday.
