Almost everyone knows Paul Pogba played a big role in Romelu Lukaku transfer to Old Trafford this summer, and the Frenchman has now revealed how he was able to get it done.
The Belgium striker looked set to make the move back to Stamford Bridge only for Manchester United to swoop and hijack the player away from Chelsea’s grip with £75million.
Lukaku was expected to be the one to replace departing Diego Costa after Conte told the Spaniard at the end of last season that he is not part of his plans at Stamford Bridge for the upcoming season. But Jose Mourinho’s side were the ones who landed the player.
France international Paul Pogba is known to be a very close friend with the Belgian, and he has eventually talked about his role in persuading the former Everton striker to come to Old Trafford.
Speaking on Copa 90’s FIFA and Chill show, the former Juventus midfielder confessed that he had been preparing for it, and that everything was a long work – but everything started at a dinner outing where he talked to the 24-year-old about Manchester United.
‘I had to work for it. But the finale is that Lukaku is here, he is here with us and he is scoring the goals.” Pogba said.
Chelsea have brought in Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid last month, but the Spanish striker is still trying to fit in adequately, with the commencement of the new premier league campaign just few days to go.
