It appears Antonio Conte is not worried about the unavailability of Brazilian defender David Luiz when his side will clash with Man City this weekend, due to the confidence he has in youngster Andreas Christensen.
Luiz was sent off the pitch when Chelsea played Arsenal earlier this month at Stamford bridge, which resulted in a three-match ban – the last will be served against Man City on Saturday.
Even though Chelsea are expected to miss an important player like Luiz in an important game against City, Chelsea boss Conte believes Christensen has proven he can provide an adequate cover at the back-line.
Andreas has impressed whenever he was called upon this season, and he is expected to stand firmly against the top guys in Pep Guardiola’s squad when they clash on Saturday.
And Conte, speaking ahead of the premier league game, admits Luiz is a very important member of his team, despite that the samba star gave away a penalty against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
He however suggests the former PSG defender won’t be missed due to the presence of Christensen – who he regarded as ‘a young player with a big maturity’.
Pep Guardiola will be without Sergio Aguero after the Argentine was involved in a car accident in the Netherlands that fractured his ribs.
