Why De Gea thinks criticism of him is ‘stupid’

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has described the criticism against him as stupid.

He made the claim after he was named in the FIFPro World XI at the FIFA Best awards ceremony that was held in London on Tuesday night.

His rival at Chelsea, Thibaut Courtois had won an individual award as the best goalkeeper of the year, all thanks to his performance at the Russia 2018 World Cup.

De Gea thinks his inclusion in the FIFA team of the year is a prove of how good he is which has not been acknowledged by his critics.

Recall that the Spanish goalkeeper also took the blame for why the former World Cup winners were knocked out of the tournament at such an early stage, not forgetting his performance against England and Croatia.

Before United’s win against Young Boys in last week’s Champions League encounter, the goalkeeper had stated that he never listens to those who speak negatively about him as he is focused on doing his job and helping his team win as many games as possible.

Yesterday’s award confirms his claim that his critics have been unfair to him.

Also on the World team are Dani Alves, Sergio Ramos, Raphel Varane, Marcelo, N’Golo Kante, Luka Modric, Eden Hazard, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
