Chelsea new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko made his full debut for his new side today when they clashed with Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley, and he appeared to impress his new manager Antonio Conte alot.
The Italian boss was full of praise for the midfielder after the Frenchman made his full debut in their 2-1 win over Spurs.
Bakayoko made the move to Stamford Bridge for £40million from Ligue I side Monaco but has been trying to get back to full fitness after undergoing a knee surgery some weeks back.
However, with Chelsea struggling for number ahead of the game against Tottenham on Sunday, their manager was forced into starting Tiemoue and the player did not disappoint in the game but got Conte blown away.
The boss gave kudos to Marcos Alonso after his double and also heaped praise on Bakayoko for making a return to the team ahead of schedule.
‘It was the first game for him. Don’t forget that at some point I also playing and there are times the motivation makes one get over your physical condition,’ he said.
‘Bakayoko worked a lot in these last ten days, and I saw lots of improvement. If not, it was very difficult for me to start him.’
‘He sure had a superb performance but can still improve. He needs to adapt to our style of football here.’
